This is Heritage Week in BC and the Railway Museum has a lineup of interesting events for everyone who loves railroading.
This, the 7th Annual Heritage celebration includes coffee in the Dining Car, a special exhibition called Building The Road to Victory: Canadian Railway Troops, Forgotten Heroes, opens on Saturday, February 20, from 12:30 until 2:30 pm.
Members are free, admission is by all others is by donation. There will also be ligt refreshments.

The next performance at the Revelstoke Jazz Club in the Selkirk Room at the Regent Hotel — scheduled for Friday, February 19, will feature Salmon Arm’s Thick as Thieves.
This four-man band is known for its imaginative blend of jazz, blues, folk, and world music.
A statement from the Jazz Society said the quartet features Richard Owings on the five-string violin, Jordan Dick on guitar, Blair Shier on guitar/bass, and Larry Keats on drums.
“A principal inspiration for the group is the distinctive work of the American composer and guitarist Bill Frisell,” the statement said. “Thick as Thieves performs its own original versions of choice Frisell compositions and arrangements, plus new tunes written by band members. Of special interest are the band’s covers of the Beatles Strawberry Fields and Julia, in fresh instrumental settings.
Thick as Thieves will perform on Friday, February 19. Admission is by donation and the doors will open at 7 pm, with the band playing from 7:30 until 9:30 pm.

The Revelstoke branch of the Okanagan Regional Library is hosting a special presentation on identity on Monday, February 15, starting at 6:30 pm.
This event features Chartered Professional Accountant Steven Klinger and is sponsored by the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy.
The library has also been the venue of choice for a series of four CBAL-sponsored financial workshops. Two have already been concluded but there are two others coming up before the end of the month:
Wednesday, February 24 — Melissa Klages of Christopher Johnston Law Corporation and Public Notary Meghan Hutton are talking abiout the value of estate planning. Death eventually comes knocking on everyone’s door so this is a workshop that be relevant for everyone; and
Monday, February 29 — Ken Baker of the Toronto-Dominion Bank and Todd Arthurs of REMAX Revelstoke Realty team up with valuable tips for first-time home buyers.
