Lighthearted artists 2015-11-16The girls in the encaustic class taught by encaustic artist Peter Blackmore and Visual Arts Centre Executive Director Jackie Pendergast brought out some thoughtful efforts, as you can see from these young artists’ expressions. The 10 girls enrolled in the Visual Arts Centre’s Art Sundays for Children program last weekend first worked on their drawings then… Peter Blackmore photo…then listened to Jackie’s careful instructions on the encaustic process. Encaustic is a wax based paint (composed of beeswax, resin and pigment), which is kept molten on a heated palette. It is applied to an absorbent surface and then reheated in order to fuse the paint. Peter is one of the very few artists in Revelstoke who works in this medium.
