By David F. Rooney Family Day at the Revelstoke Railway Museum was a huge success, with hundreds of people popping by to see the exhibits, watch videos about the CPR and railroading and take the controls in the locomotive simulator on Saturday, August 15. Jennifer Dunkerson was very pleased with community participation in the event and smilingly paid homage to the weather. Cool and wet, the weather encouraged people — especially those with children — to visit the institution. Rooney photo The Revelstoke Model Railroad Society has invested thousands of hours in their large table-top model on the museum’s second floor. The diorama features hand-made buildings and geographical features such as this model of the long-gone Illecillewaet Power Station that for decades dammed the Illecillewaet River least town. This model, as well as some others that have been incorporated into the display, was made for the society by Patrick Lawes of Victoria. David F.
