The City is forming a task force to explore the possibility of establishing a viable high technology sector in Revelstoke.
Task Force members will be volunteers selected for their interest, previous experience, knowledge, skills and ability to represent the population of the area.

The Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network’s (CBEEN) is now accepting applications for its 2015 Environmental Education Leadership Clinic being held April 25 – 28.
A statement from the organization said that this year’s clinic will be held in Kootenay National Park and will consist of eight teams of four.
“Teams are made up of individuals that can come from one organization or across organizations,” CBEEN Executive Director Duncan Whittick told The Current. “For example, in your neck of the woods, I believe Natalie Stafl (executive director of the Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society) is working on a joint application with the other invasive species groups across the Columbia Basin to develop a plan for a coordinated approach to outreach/education on aquatic invasives.”
He said teams are selected by a review committee based on a few components:
The quality and overall potential impact of the goal they a have identified;
The overall strength of their team; and
Their ability to implement the action plan they have developed;
This initiative is supported by the Vancouver Foundation, the BCTF Environmental Education Provincial Specialist Association, Columbia Basin Trust, Columbia Power Corporation, Columbia Valley Community Foundation, Kicking Horse Coffee and Nipika Mountain Resort.

The Willy Gaw Quintet will perform on Gypsy Jazz night from 7 until 9 pm on Friday, February 13, at the new Jazz Club in the Selkirk Room at the Regent Hotel.
The Willy Gaw Quintet will actually be a trio for that night with Jordan Dick, Jacob Verburg and Willy Gaw all playing guitar and playing the music of Django Reinhardt and Gypsy Jazz from the Quintette of the Hot Club of France. Their music is influenced by modern day Gypsy Jazz players, Stochelo Rosenberg, Adrian Moignard, Gonzalo Bergarra and Denis Chang just to name a few.
Jacob and Jordan are no strangers to the Revelstoke music scene. Jordan has been playing with the Bob Rogers Band and Jacob just featured at the Revelstoke Coffee House in January.
Willy Gaw and Jacob Verburg have been playing Gypsy Jazz on and off together for almost ten years. Jordan and Willy began playing this style together about two years ago. They all share an intense passion for this music and it delights audiences. It is an intoxicating jazz for listeners, players and dancers.

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is looking for young entrepreneurs who are facing a turning point: continue at their current pace or seize the opportunity to grow their businesses.
“Whether it’s making an investment, hiring more people, tackling a new market or planning a shift in strategy, the turning point could be worth $100,000 for the winner or $25,000 in consulting services from BDC for the runner-up,” the BDC said in an e-mail statement forwarded to The Current from the Chamber of Commerce.
Entrants need only fill out the contest application form and submit a high-resolution photo of themselves.
