Good Samaritans help Moberly Manor's seniors

By David F. Rooney
A very community minded plea put on Facebook last week by Lisa Fik asked for volunteers, either a group or organization or even just individuals, to come to Moberly Manor on Thursday afternoon to shovel off the elderly residents tiny snowed-in patios.
Melanie Melnyk alerted me to this and said Lisa was “concerned about the residents and their desire to perhaps access their patios for some fresh air…to watch life outside, etc.  She asked if there were any volunteers, either a group or organization or even just individuals that would shovel these patios off.”
You can see the results of Lisa’s plea below:

Even members of the Revelstoke Grizzlies came out to put their young muscles at the service of their elderly neighbours. Way to go everyone. And, thank you, Lisa for organizing these Good Samaritans. David F. Rooney photo

“A huge thank you to all the young women and men and to Mavis (Cann) for recruiting the Revelstoke Grizzlies hockey team,” Lisa said afterwards. “Thank you all on behalf of all the Moberly tenants for clearing a path to the outside world for them. You are amazing! What a wonderful thing you did!”
