Welcome Week — Revelstoke’s annual effort to make newcomers feel… well… welcome and comfortable within the community is set to begin this Sunday, November 23 with the always-popular Community Dinner.

Mmmmm. A home-style lasagna dinner produced by Glen Cherlet of Begbie BBQ for just $5 a plate — how can you beat that? Well, when you’re young and new to town you can’t. And there are vegetarian options for those who crave them.

This event will be accompanied by music and plenty of good cheer. It starts at 5 pm and runs until 7:30 in the United Church basement at 314 Mackenzie Avenue.

This is the third year that Welcome Week has been offered at the beginning of the winter and it’s a heck of a great idea as it offers a way for the many people who come here for the season to meet other folks just like them and learn about our community.

“It’s important to be connected and Welcome Week is the perfect vehicle for helping newcomers not only meet each other but older residents, too,” says Social Development Coordinator Jill Zacharias.

Welcome Week features some pretty cool programs and if you’re not sure how to get around town the community transit system can get you where you need to go for free all week. Unfortunately, this does not include the resort shuttle. But if you need to know how to get somewhere in town check the transit schedule at City Hall or the Community Centre.

If you have kids with you there are always a lot of activities for children in Revelstoke. Please click here for more information on that.

Here’s a quick list of everything on offer this week; many of these events are free but there are admission prices for some. Please click here to see all the details, meanwhile for just a sneak peek scroll on down:
