The 2014 election is shaping up to be a busy one with double the total ballets cast in the advance polls as compared to the previous election.
Teresa LeRose, the City’s Chief Elections Officer, released the following statistics on Friday, November 14:
- 2014 General Local Election for the office of Mayor and Councillors issued 973 total ballots;
2011 General Local Election for Councillors and School Trustees issued 486 total ballots.
There are 5,664 potential registered voters making the voter turnout specific to the advance polls 17% for 2014 compared to 9% in 2011.
“We are pleased that the community is so engaged in the election process this year,” LeRose said in a statement. “It is important that each resident and non resident property elector ensures their voice is heard by voting.”
General Voting Day is Saturday, November 15, from 8 am to 8 pm at the Community Centre. The City encourages everyone to come out and vote.
