It’s still a couple of weeks away but the Big Eddy Bridge is going to be closed on Wednesday, September 24, so workers can repair it.

The venerable span over the Columbia River will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7 am until 3 pm.

If you’re planning on driving to Vernon Jubilee Hospital anytime soon you’ll surely want to know ongoing construction at its Polson Tower is affecting parking availability.

A statement from Interior Health said a crane will be on site to deliver supplies to the top floors, beginning Monday Sept. 8, at 6 am. Work will continue throughout the day. While the crane is on site, approximately 16 parking stalls and adjacent sidewalk areas will be closed. Signs and safety fencing will be in place.

This crane will be back on site at various points during completion of the Polson Tower top floors. Please watch for signs and respect barricades.

Calling all Scots! Minto Manor will be the venue for a concert of Scottish music featuring fiddler Bruce MacGregor, cellist Christine Hanson and guitarist Andy Hillhouse.
