The Revelstoke RCMP General Duty members and Auxiliary Constables were kept busy over the BC Day long weekend with many complaints and requests for assistance.
During the period from Friday, August 1, to Monday, August 4, the Mounties dealt with more than 81 calls for service.
“There were 19 persons lodged into cells for public intoxication,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement released on Tuesday, August 5. “Several fights, assaults and causing-disturbance situations were attended to. Two 911 calls that were received and deemed false. Police also aided with several medical-distress complaints, a trespassing, three noise complaints, many lost and found property reports and several mischief complaints involving vehicles and city property, as well as five drug seizures. Several youth were located in city parks consuming alcohol and going through campsites. Thirty one complaints of erratic drivers were received.”
In addition police assisted investigated three motor-vehicle collisions over the weekend. Complaints were also received of persons jumping off the bridges into the Columbia River. A vehicle theft was also investigated resulting in up-coming court proceedings for an adult male. A domestic dispute will also see court proceedings upcoming. And, finally, there were two impaired-driving investigations on the weekend.
“On average the Revelstoke Detachment receives 10 calls per day,” Grabinsky said. “Therefore we have doubled our normal call volume. The Revelstoke RCMP would like to thank the community for the continued support and remind drivers to pull over to the far right when being passed by emergency vehicles operating with lights and sirens.”
