The Bygone Era Entertainment Society is marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War with four Charlie Chaplin movies from 1914 to be shown at the Nickelodeon Museum on Friday, August 1.
The films include The Wanderer, The Wages of Sin, The Rounders and The City Slicker.
And, with the 75th anniversary of the start of the Second World War, the society is also offering a taste of 1939 with a travelogue about Morocco, Allied News Magazine, showing how the European allies were working together, After 50 Years, a film that shows how Gas Town became the City of Vancouver, and All-Star Bond Rally — a pitch to buy war bonds.
The First World War began on July 28, 1914, and the Second World War began on September 1, 1939.
The show starts at 7:30 pm at the Nickelodeon Museum, located at 111 First Street West. Tickets are $5 and can be reserved by calling the museum at 250-837-5250.
