If you live on Third Street East from Victoria Road to Orton Avenue you should know that your water service will be disrupted on Tuesday, June 17, from 9 am until 5 pm as a City work crew replaces a hydrant.
A statement from the City cautions residents to fill a container with fresh water before 9 am on Tuesday.
Once water service has been restored please run your water to clear the lines. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Public Works office at 250-837-2001.

The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre is issuing two Calls for Entry.
This is very short notice but I am organizing an art exhibition at the Centre called Voices of Our Ancestors which will open on July 11,” National Aboriginal Day organizer Laura Stovel said in an e-mail. “The Aboriginal Storytelling festival organizers would like to invite artists to engage with the subject of Aboriginal people and the land around Revelstoke. For centuries, and probably for thousands of years, Aboriginal people lived, gathered, fished and hunted on the land that we now know as Revelstoke. At a time when giant trees grew right down to the river and salmon swam all the way from the Pacific, Aboriginal people live in an intimate relationship with this land.”
Next weekend’s National Aboriginal Day storytelling festival at the Revelstoke Museum and Archives and Centennial Park (near the worker’s memorial) on June 21 will bring together Aboriginal storytellers and locals to tell stories and legends related to this land. Inspired by these stories and by just reflecting on the long human relationship with the land around Revelstoke we invite artists to engage with this subject.
“Unfortunately the deadline is very tight: intake is July 4 and the exhibit in the Sophie Atkinson Gallery begins on July 11,” she said.
The Centre is also seeking work for the Backyards and Alleys exhibition that will be displayed at the same time. Entry forms will be made available next week.

The Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society is seeking individuals willing to serve on its board of directors.
The society oversees the 22-acre Greenbelt that borders the Illecillewaet River from Fourth Street south past the Kingsbury pedestrian bridge.

Seventeen business licences were issued in the month of May, the municipal Finance Department reported to City Council last Tuesday, June 10.
Licences were purchased by: Beth Purser Massage; Align West Homes; Alpenglow Silviculture; Onfire Holdings; Kodiak Construction, Okanagan Insulation Services; Premium Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning; Gord’s Painting; Okanagan Drywall; Premium Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning; Conroy Exteriors (Kelowna); Madge Contracting; Concept Electric; The Stoke; Saunders Masonry; Eileen Fletcher, Architect; S, TEE Construction; and Flexpeditions.
That brings the number of business licences in Revelstoke to 929, up from 913 at the end of April. One licence was cancelled in May.
Last year at this time there were 877 business licences.
