The Community Connections Pre-Teen Camps would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the North Columbia Environmental Society for donating a bike for use at our Summer Camps. Transportation to Pre-Teen Camp activities around Revelstoke all involve biking. We use biking as a mode of transportation to encourage the pre-teens to use alternative ways to get from A to B, other than in a vehicle. Furthermore, we are hoping this promotes healthy lifestyles that campers continue outside of camps.
With increased access to bikes, Pre-Teen Camps will be able to eliminate barriers to youth attending camps. Events such as bike maintenance and bike tip workshops with local businesses become more possible. As the youth have more exposure to riding bikes, they become more confident to ride in town and have a better understanding of the laws of urban riding.
