Peter Trant leads a group of vintage cars down Hwy 1 with his 1933 McLaughlin Buick Victoria. Jason Portras photoThere were, as you might expect, some truly beautiful machines in this particular parade. Jason Portras photoGorgeous. Jason Portras photoEveryone was all smiles cruising on this beautiful morning. Jason Portras photoA line of vintage cars snaked their way along the side road entrance to the Round House at The Gap, patiently waiting to enter the grounds. Jason Portras photoOnce inside, the scene looked like a throwback to older days when community was King and cars were works of art. Jason Portras photoA work of art in itself, the Round House is an impressive piece of architecture. Jason Portras photoThe Governor’s baby blue Pontiac takes its place in the crowd. Jason Portras photoOld friends and new friends gather to share stories of times gone by and times to come. Jason Portras photoLittle Red Rags-01 and these other cars really know how to set a scene. Jason Portras photoWow! Jason Portras photoMore wow! Jason Portras photoStraight out of the Godfather! Jason Portras photoAmazing. Jason Portras photoMustang Sally, now baby! Jason Portras photoJust look at the endless curves on that Stingray ‘Vette. Wow. Jason Portras photoOn Sunday night, a semi-formal awards banquet was held to honour the hard work and dedication of all of the members of the Vintage Car Club of Canada. Following a wonderful dinner put on by La Bagette Catering and an “attitude adjustment” bar courtesy of the Rotary Club, the show began with a live auction of various items graciously donated for the benefit of the local Revelstoke Chapter. This handcrafted grader took a good bounty in itself. Jason Portras photoAnother item up for auction was an antique Route 66 gas pump / CD holder. Jason Portras photoAuctioneer Todd Driediger did a phenomenal job at both entertaining the crowd and getting them to gleefully turn their pockets inside out for the many items up for auction. Jason Portras photoHands were flying up to bid from all around the room. Looks like Hector Scarcelli really wanted something. Jason Portras photoVCC of Canada President Derek Long announced his retirement from that position with the club and came prepared to thank everyone he’d ever met in his life for the opportunity. Just look at the length of those speech notes! Jason Portras photoThe big winner of the night was Peter Trant from the Vancouver Chapter, who came away with SIX trophies! They were as follows: Classic Best of Class, Best Canadian Classic, Lord Montague Pre-war Award, President’s High Point Award, People’s Choice Award, and last but certainly not least, the NAACC High Point Vehicle of the Meet. Here he is, pictured with just some of the trophies that adorned his table. Jason Portras photoAnd this is the vehicle that won the show, Peter Trant’s 1933 McLaughlin Buick Victoria.
