Springtime birding 2014-04-14Withe increasingly rapid disappearance of the snow, migratory birds are touching down in the creeks and ponds of the flats south of the airport and at Downie Marsh in town. We spotted northern shovelers, buffleheads, sandpipers, Canada geese, and other waterfowl on Sunday as well as a small herd of deer racing across the snow from Airport Way towards the Columbia River. More people will doubtless be heading out to watch the birds. That’s great, but if you’re taking your dogs please remember to keep them under control at all times as the birds will soon be nesting.
