Hot off the ice in Parksville where they nailed the gold medal in the Cyclone Taylor Cup series the Revelstoke Grizzlies are on their way home and we — the team’s fans — should be ready to greet them at the Forum this evening.
According to Steve Smith, who got it from Dennis Berarducci, the Grizzlies will be returning between 7 and 8 pm this evening.
“They will have an RCMP escort taking them into town and everyone is invited to join them in a rally/celebration/welcome-home at the Revelstoke Forum tonight,” Smith said. “What an amazing accomplishment for these young men representing our community. Next up, the Keystone Cup which determines the best Junior B team in all of Western Canada, April 15-18th in Kamloops. Yes, Garth, time to get the bus together. Now, if they only had some ice to practice on here in Revelstoke? Let’s go Grizzlies!”
The Grizzlies won the gold medal in the Cyclone Taylor Cup series, beating the Peninsula Pathers 3-1 Sunday afternoon.
That four-day Keystone Cup Series series brings together the best teams from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. So far, only the Grizzlies, the Beaumont Chiefs from Alberta and the Northern Hawks from Ontatio are known to be in the running. Teams from Saskatchewan and Manitoba have not yet been declared.
