Timber Days This Weekend & Forestry Museum Has A New Exhibit

This weekend will be Timber Days! As part of a long standing tradition in Revelstoke, Timber Days recognizes both the logging industry that helped shape the face of Revelstoke as well as spotlighting the artistic integrity that many carvers and wood enthusiasts can create from a fallen tree. Oh, and fun logging activities!

While the Revelstoke Forestry Museum works tirelessly all year round, the museum has opened its doors to the travelling public. The museums in this community are certainly one of the unique attractions to stop and visit. While parents are travelling from one destination to another across B.C. part of the excitement is educating their young ones along the way. What a better place than Revelstoke to do just that.

The Railway Museum’s rich history when it comes to the tracks, the Revelstoke Museum & Archives continual growth in preserving yesterday and the Forestry Museum to learn how this community thrived and survived for well over 100 years. This should be another excellent summer season.

With BC Interior Forestry Museum is now open for the season, a lot will be going on in May including their new new major outdoor exhibit “Colly” The Columbia River Tug Boat and a fabulous new indoor exhibit of industrial tools from the early 20th century donated by the Surrey Museum.

This coming Friday evening at 5:00pm, Timber Day Kick Off Event will be underway with lots of entertainment for the family including a Pro Logger Show, Draft Horse logging Demo, Free Pop Corn, Music, Bonfire and BBQ burgers by Eddy the Chubby Idiot. A special appearance by Eagle Man and the famous junior logger relay event will make the evening a great event.

8:00am- 10:30am is the Pancake Breakfast Buffet at Chubby Funsters which is always very hearty and delicious.

For those competing in the Timber Days Axe Throwing or Cross Cut Saw, they will be holding the only practice at the BC Interior Forestry Museum from 5pm till 7pm this Friday 11th May.

We are located up Highway 23 NORTH just before the dam wall. Come and check the new exhibit and learn more about the nature walk that is in the works!
