At approximately 3 pm on Saturday April 28, 2018 the British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) and the Revelstoke Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were contacted regarding a pedestrian struck by a flat deck truck on Highway 23 North. The male pedestrian was outside of a pick-up truck and camper alongside the highway when they were struck by the commercial truck.
A police officer from the Revelstoke RCMP General Duty section and a member of the Trans-Canada East Traffic Services, based out of Revelstoke, attended to the scene. BCAS dispatched a helicopter to the location, in addition to an ambulance, approximately 90 kms north of Revelstoke. Upon arrival of the BCAS helicopter, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased.
The deceased male, approximately 35 years of age, is from Alberta. The male’s name is not being released. Next of kin are still being notified.
The BC Coroner Service local Coroner is conducting their investigation and the RCMP Traffic Analyst is examining the scene. TCETS has conduct of the investigation. Charges are pending for the commercial truck driver.
