Fatal Vehicle Collision On Highway Claims Life Of A 26 Year Old Salmon Arm Resident

By Staff Sergeant Grabinsky,

At approximately 3:45 am on March 12, 2018 passing motorists notified the Revelstoke RCMP of a vehicle over the embankment of the Trans Canada Highway near Eagle Creek. The passing motorists attempted to assist and contacted police.

The Revelstoke RCMP, Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance Service attended to the location. It was determined that a single female driver was the lone occupant of the white 2015 Jeep Patriot, travelling west bound. The Jeep had gone over the embankment, and was about 25 meters from the roadway. The Jeep came to a stop when it struck a tree. Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service provided first aid, however the female succumbed to her injuries.

The RCMP Revelstoke Detachment, RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services and RCMP Trans Canada East Traffic Services all continue to conduct the investigation into the cause of the incident. The roadway was closed intermittently for the initial emergency response, for the extraction of the vehicle and the motor vehicle collision scene analysis.
