Historically, The Current tries to remain truly local to Revelstoke, however every once and a while there is an opportunity in an outside market where Revelstokians are welcome to participate and it is to the betterment of youth.
While this writing contest is not closed off to any age, being that it is about the written word I feel it is important for any aspiring writer to submit their story and receive the same chance of recognition as a someone in Salmon Arm!
Time is running out to enter the Askew’s Foods Word on the Lake Writing Contest. The deadline is midnight, February 28, 2018. Winners receive cash prizes, festival conference packages including banquet tickets, and their winning poem or story will be published in Askew’s Foods Word on the Lake Anthology. The Word on the Lake Writers’ Festival takes place May 11, 12, and 13 at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort and Convention Centre and Okanagan College in Salmon Arm, BC. Winners of the contest will be recognized at the Saturday night banquet on May 13, and the Askew’s Foods Word on the Lake Anthology will be available for purchase at that time.
