One Dead, Another Injured -Highway-1 Accident

On Thursday February 1, 2018 the Revelstoke RCMP were notified of a collision between a Ford F150 and a commercial tractor trailer approximately 45 kilometres east of Revelstoke on the Trans-Canada Highway. The driver of the F150 died on scene, while his passenger was transported by BC Ambulance Service to Golden Hospital. The driver of the commercial vehicle has no injuries.

The commercial vehicle was travelling west bound and the passenger truck was east bound. The roads were in good winter driving conditions and visibility was good.

The RCMP Traffic Analyst is examining the scene to determine the cause of the accident. Police have interviewed all persons involved as well as witnesses.

BC Ambulance and Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service attended the scene with several apparatus and personnel. The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed for several hours as the incident is investigated and then wreckage is cleared. Drivers are advised to check DriveBC for updates.

The RCMP continues to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation into the collision and fatality.
