On Saturday February 17th, the Revelstoke Current received a tip that a possible train derailment occurred somewhere near Field. The Current reached out to CP Rail on Sunday as to whether or not this was fact or confusion in the midst of what had happened in Edmonton. A confirmation came in that there was, in fact, a derailment.
Jeremy Berry, CP Rail Media Relations informed the Current what had occurred.
“At approximately 1:40 am mountain time on February 17, a CP train derailed just west of Field, BC. CP immediately implemented its emergency response protocols and mobilized teams to the site. There was no threat to public safety and no injuries.”
No word as to what the train had in tow. The line has since been re-opened and business is running as usual.
