Retired RCMP Sergeant Arthur Elmer Kleinsmith passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 68 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Michael McCaffery celebrant. Pallbearers will be RCMP Members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Art.
Art was born in Brockville, Ontario on April 2, 1949 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1993. He had a varied 41-year career with the RCMP serving in various locations throughout British Columbia, Ottawa and finally Revelstoke, where he retired in 2011 as a Sergeant. Art also served one year with the UN Peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. He always respected the job he held as a Mountie. Art was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Masonic Lodge. He was an accomplished ball player and took great pleasure in playing the game of Fastball. He also enjoyed hockey and was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
Art was predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Trish of Revelstoke; daughter Danielle (Terry) Casavant of Surrey; two grandchildren: Morgan and Zoe; four siblings: Lester Kleinsmith, Perry (Carla) Kleinsmith, Connie (Tony) Yarc and Paul (Mary Anne) Kleinsmith, all of Sarnia, Ontario; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
