Radek Josef Opatril passed away suddenly at his residence in Revelstoke on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at the age of 63 years. There will be no formal funeral service by Rad’s own request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Rad.
Rad was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia on October 4, 1954 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1993. He enjoyed driving and worked as a limousine driver for Hallcon Transport and Revelstoke Mountain Transfer. Rad was a member of the Revelstoke Flying Club. A graduate of Seneca College as a flight technologist and with a commercial pilot’s licence, he enjoyed his time in the air. In addition, Rad was an avid canoeist and loved the outdoors.
Rad is survived by his two daughters: Leslie and Maxine; his children’s mother, Lois; one sister Marcella Kopet; two nephews: Derek and Adam as well as his good friends Ed Ross and James van Dam.
