In celebration of Canada 150, the City of Revelstoke and the CSRD announce they will host The Canadian Forces (CF) Snowbirds this July 25-26.
Planned events include a meet and greet with the Snowbirds at the Revelstoke Airport July 25 from 3:30 – 5 pm, a Non-Aerobatic Air Display on July 26 from 2:30 – 5 pm, and a Dinner with the Snowbirds at Revelstoke Mountain Resort on July 25 from 6:30 – 9 pm.
“In order to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the Non-Aerobatic Air Display, The City of Revelstoke will be hosting a public-viewing event at Centennial Park on July 26 from 2:30 – 5 pm,” the City said in a statement. “There, in addition to the air display, there will be music, children’s activities, food options and live commentary by the CF Snowbirds. Both the Meet and Greet at the Airport and the public viewing event at Centennial Park are free events.”
Captain Paul Faulkner said the Snowbirds were so impressed by “the scenic mountains and meeting the great airshow organizing team last week in Revelstoke, the Snowbird team can’t wait to perform on the 26th of July. We loved the town, and the roller coaster, we can’t wait to be back.”
Nicole Fricot, director of Community Economic Development, sais the show could have “a huge positive impact on our community and local businesses.”
“I think it is particularly great that youth will have the opportunity to meet and interact with a couple of the CF Snowbirds at the Meet and Greet at the airport,” she said. “When the Snowbirds came for their site visit a few weeks ago, it became clear that inspiring young people to consider different opportunities is a big part of their mandate”.
