In celebration of Police Week, which culminates on Friday with a BBQ at the local detachment, Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky has been providing local news media with a daily list of the calls they received for police service.

Here are the calls from Monday, May 15

2017-1415 — Suspicious Vehicle — At 0920hrs Revelstoke RCMP received report of a suspicious vehicle in Columbia Park. It appeared someone was living inside the van. Driver was issued a Notice and Order to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.

2017-1416 — Disturbance — RCMP attended a local business for a report of a disturbance that occurred earlier in the day. A verbal argument had occurred which resulted in a female being asked to leave the location. The female is no longer welcome in this location.

2017-1417 — Located Property — United Kingdom Passport was located at a business on Hwy 23 North. Police seized the passport, liaised with the British Consulate General in order to arrange return to its rightful owner.

2017-1418 — Erratic Driver — Report received of a vehicle passing on double solids lines on the Trans-Canada Highway while travelling eastbound into Revelstoke. Vehicle was located and the driver admitted to performing the violation. A notice and order was written to the driver. Complainant was notified of the outcome.

2017-1419 — Highway Obstruction — A large tree was obstructing the westbound traffic lane on the Trans-Canada Highway near Three Valley Gap. The Ministry of Transportation and EMCON were notified of the matter. No accidents occurred.

2017-1420 —Motor Vehicle Accident

Other — A Revelstoke Detachment RCMP Constable attended to the Crime stoppers monthly meeting to update the board and provide further knowledge on the benefits of Crime stoppers.

Other — Police Officers performed curfew checks of individuals currently held bound to court orders.

Here are the calls from Tuesday, May 16

2017-1421  Theft of Fuel — Report received of fuel syphoned from a vehicle gas tank. Overnight ¾ of a tank of gas from a truck parked at a residence on 5th Street East was taken.

2017-1423 — Assist Nanaimo RCMP Detachment with Sexual Assault/Assault investigation; request to take a statement from a possible suspect in a sexual assault which reportedly occurred in Nanaimo.

2017-1424 Vehicle taken without consent; employee recently fired and in possession of the owner’s vehicle.

2017-1425 — Social media — Concerns expressed over sharing of information over social media.

2017-1426 — Bear sighting — Report from school that a bear and cub were located near a school yard during dismissal time. Children advised to be held until police attendance. Bear not located and children went home safely.

2017-1427 —  Erratic Driver — Semi Tractor Trailer passing on double solid lines on the Trans- Canada Highway west bound into Revelstoke. Vehicle was located and a warning was provided to driver.

2017-1428 — Erratic Driver — Black Sedan with Manitoba license plates was reported regarding erratic driving behaviour. Vehicle was unable to be located, and information was passed forward to the neighbouring detachments

2017-1429 — Possible Impaired Driver — Vehicle passing on double solids and travelling at erratic speeds toward Revelstoke from Golden. Vehicle located. Driver appeared sober and showed no signs of impairment. A written warning was provided to the driver of the vehicle.

2017-1430 — Mischief to Kovach Skate Park — Report of a vehicle driving on the grass in the skate park. Vehicle was located along with several bystanders with open liquor. Violation ticket issued to driver of the vehicle. A verbal warning was provided for the open liquor.

2017-1431 — Abandoned 911 call — Emergency police line was dialed in error.

2017-1432  — Check well-being — A report of a hitchhiker residing in Revelstoke was initiated in order to perform a well-being check. The subject is drug dependant and there are concerns for their safety. Subject was unable to be located.

Other — Nightly curfew checks performed on individuals bound to court orders.
