Free concert at Woodenhead Park this Saturday

The celebrated MidSun Grade 9 Band from Calgary will be performing live in Woodenhead Park this Saturday, May 27, starting at 1 pm. The band has been doing a performance tour in the BC Interior since the school’s first year in 1999. “Over the years, we have built a tremendous relationship with many of the businesses and tourist stops along the way,” says band director Scott Campbell. “Our home base for our tour is Salmon Arm. Each day we travel out to perform in a variety of venues, from seniors’ homes, elementary schools, and parks. We will also be visiting the Revelstoke Dam, Revelstoke Railway Museum, the Last Spike, The Kettle Valley Railway, among other stops. Over the four days, we will perform 6 concerts!”
The MidSun Music Program consists of 270 students in 3 concert bands and 2 jazz bands. The band performing on Saturday is the Grade 9 band, consisting of band members. Over the years, MidSun bands have performed at a high level, achieving countless awards at major band festivals, including top Concert Band at the Alberta International Band Festival in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2014. This year’s group is extremely talented and enthusiastic. We’ll be performing a wide variety of concert band music, from pop, jazz, movie music, classical and even some zydeco.
