Looking to sell, trade or give away some of your unwanted or previously-loved items but can’t hold your own garage sale? Then you’ll want to take part in the first-ever Trunk Sale being held at the Revelstoke Community and Aquatic Centre at 600 Campbell Avenue on Sunday, June 4.
Organized by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s (CSRD) Waste Reduction Program, the event champions the concept of reuse and recycle, with one giant community garage sale.
“This is a great opportunity to un-clutter your life!” says Carmen Fennell, the regional district’s Waste Reduction Facilitator. “These Trunk Sales encourage you to pass your unwanted items on to someone else who could use them, so it’s about reuse, bargains and less items ending up in the landfill.”
She said this is an “opportunity for people who wouldn’t normally host their own garage or yard sale, those that live in condos, apartments, or simply have no yard.” It’s also for people who only have a small amount of garage sale items and don’t want to host their own sale; everyone’s welcome to take part.
There was tremendous response to the last three events held in Salmon Arm, with over 60 vendors participating at each event, and the Regional District would like to repeat this success in Revelstoke.
“Vendors can sell everything from boats and bikes, to clothing and furniture,” Fennell said. “Anyone interested in being a vendor should sign up early. Just as the name suggests, you do the selling from the trunk of your car, van or the back of your pickup. There’s no charge to be a vendor, but you do need to pre-register.”
The deadline to register as a vendor is Wednesday, May 31. To register, please visit the CSRD website at www.csrd.bc.ca/Revelstoke-Trunk-Sale or contact Carmen Fennell, Waste Reduction Facilitator, at 250-833-5936.
If you don’t have items to sell at the Trunk Sale, be sure to come and shop for great bargains on the sale day. The Trunk Sale runs from 8 am to 12 pm, Sunday, June 4, in the south side parking area at the Revelstoke Community Centre.
