In the wake of last weekend’s demonstration against the Farm & Craft Market ‘s decision to refuse a membership application from Wild Flight Farm, the local Food Initiative announced on Monday, April 10, that it will establish a new market for the community.
“ Our market is just in its sprouting phase and there will be tons of growing to do,” the LFI said in a statement on its website.
“Our first step is forming a steering committee to oversee our market. The market steering committee will be a collaboration of community citizens consisting of:
- 2 LFI members;
- 2 Community representatives;
- 2 Business representatives;
- 2 Vendor representatives; and
- 1 food security coordinator.
The organization also said it will soon begin a survey of the community, presumably to gauge support for its new market.
