Obituary Notice — Joyce Charlotte Barnes

Joyce Charlotte Barnes
1927 – 2017

We regret to announce the passing of Joyce Charlotte Barnes on March 27th, 2017. Mum passed peacefully at Moberly Manor, where she has resided since August of 2015.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Roy in January of 2009.

Born in Childers, Australia, in 1927, Mum and her family moved back to England while she was still young.

Mum apprenticed as a tailor after she finished her schooling and at this she excelled. She met Roy at a military dance and they married in May of 1948, and subsequently came to Canada as part of military band recruitment. Mum was a tailor at the Canadian Forces base in Chilliwack where Dad was stationed and during her time there received many citations for her excellent work and professionalism. After her retirement, Mum continued sewing for her family, from bridal gowns to baby clothes.

Mum and Dad moved to Revelstoke in 1990. Mum was very active in the Senior Singers as she loved to sing – she had a wonderful voice and could certainly beat a mean drum. Before she moved into Moberly she was a daily sight on the Greenbelt first walking with her good friend Lenora White then on her scooter but always with her dog Razz.

Mum leaves behind her children David (Arleen), Alison, Ian (Andrea) and Andrea (Bill); grandchildren, great grandchildren and her brothers Keith (May) and Gordon.

There will be no service as per Mum’s wishes.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
