Access to Boulder Mountain is being denied until further notice so that Revelstoke Search and Rescue can search for a 48-year-okd Albertan missing since Sunday evening.
“Around 4:30 pm a group of riders from Hinton, Alberta, were riding from the Boulder Cabin returning to their accommodations at the Peaks Lodge when one male did not return,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement.
SAR was activated and searched the recreation area until almost 4:30 in the morning.
“A decision was made to close Boulder Mountain Recreation area in order to efficiently search for the missing male during day light,” he said. “The riding area will be re-opened as soon possible. The Revelstoke Snowmobile Association website is a great reference for alternative riding areas and notifications.
The missing rider is described as being a very experienced sledder. He riding a red Polaris 800 and was wearing a bright green jacket and black pants.
