The Visual Arts Centre’s annual Anything Goes art exhibition and auction was a major success last Friday as it brought in $4,600 for the upcoming exhibition season.
“The night was a booming success with the tickets sold out on Friday evening and the gallery at capacity,” Visual Arts Centre Executive Director Victoria Strange said.
“Cat Mather’s artwork Shiny won Best in Show and was auctioned live, fetching a top bid of $225. Two raffle baskets were given away to lucky winners, along with a $100 gift certificate towards art classes at the Centre.
“In the silent auction, top bids of $215 were placed for three artworks: Peter Blackmore’s Bird Houses; Zuzana Riha’s Owl of You; and Andrew Stacey’s Mermoculator.”
The main gallery and its attendant side galleries were packed with patrons who delightedly paced from artwork to artwork and guessed at who created what.
Anything Goes is almost always a major event at The Centre and this one was no different. There was plenty of food and drink and lots of opportunities to visit with friends and neighbours.
