Kootenay Business is seeking nominations for its very successfully 40 Under 40 List.

“Our 40 under 40 list was a huge success last year, and we are seeking new nominees for 2017,” magazine Publisher Keith Powell said in an e-mail. “If you know a fantastic business owner under 40 years old in the Kootenay/Boundary/Revelstoke areas, please… tell us all about them!”

Last year, the magazine received about 45 or 60 nominations from across the Kootenays. Local entrepreneur and City Councillor Scott Duke made the list last year.

“This really isn’t a contest, it’s more a business-recognition award,” Powell told The Current on Tuesday, January 17. “We look through all the nominations and hone it down to 40 under 40, with a balanced region split between East and West Kootenay/Columbia. We are looking for business success, a good track record, innovation, leadership and community involvement etc.”

Because it’s not a contest there are no prizes beyond recognition for the winners. However, since Kootenay Business has 259,200 readers a year that translates into a substantial potential business reach for the successful nominees.

“They are profiled on-line and in our magazine so get extra exposure and we invite all 40 to a networking luncheon where we have a guest motivational speaker, informative business panel and present each with an award certificate,” Powell said.

Kootenay Business is in its 33rd year of publication and has an approximate per-issue print readership of 38,000. The magazine is distributed via Canada Post to every registered business address in the Columbia Region as well as East and West Kootenay. It also has an online presence that receives about 20,000 page views per month.

“We are truly one of the few independently owned media sources in the region, other than websites like your own,” he said
