Ronald (Ron) Vernon Armstrong passed away at Mount Cartier Court Extended Care on Sunday, January 1, 2017.
Ron and his sister, Joyce, were born to Julia and Earl Armstrong, in Galahad, Alberta. In his early teens, the family moved to Mission, BC, then from there to Kelowna. He started his career of floor laying at the age of 18. He met the love of his life, Verna Wenninger, and they were married in September of 1950. Together, they moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan, where he pursued missionary work. His daughters Joy and Judy, were born there. Missionary work was not for him, so they moved to Westside, BC, where Ron took up flooring again. It was there that they had four more children, Jean, Debbie, Doug and David. In 1964, they moved to Revelstoke and continued in the floor laying business. Ron loved people. His other passion was music; he played in many bands. He played the clarinet, among other instruments.
Ron was predeceased by his wife, Verna; daughter, Debbie; sister, Joyce; son-in-law, Brian; 4 half brothers and 3 half sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Joy, Judy (Charlie) and Jean; sons, Doug (Diana) and Dave; son-in-law, Rudy (Barb); grandchildren, Shaughnessy, Carl (Nicole), Dawn (Joe), Jennifer (Paul), Roy, Sam (Lauren), Ronnie (Allan), Tammie (Voytek), Robbie, Timmy (Carmen), Dustin, Jayme (Padrig), Andrew (Christy), Sylvia, Trevor, Ronnie, Adam (Leah), Christina (Terry), Amanda, Rachael, Curtis and Kim (Gaston); 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
