Ron died suddenly on January 9, 2017, leaving his family and friends devastated.
He always said he worked to live and that is exactly what he did, being a well respected conductor on the CPR, while raising a family in Revelstoke. He was an avid outdoorsman who in the 1940s and ’50s guided hunting parties by horseback to untouched wilderness throughout BC. We always looked forward to watching the amazing 8mm movies he took of those trips. Thanks Dad!
He moved on to breeding horses and winning prizes galore in Gymkhanas through BC, riding his beloved Corky Bay Quarter Horse.
Dad shod a lot of the horses in town and he was the guy everyone called when an animal was sick (before we had a vet). He shared his knowledge with anyone who asked. Some have turned into lifelong horse people and have remembered him to us as their idol. He would have been surprised just knowing they remembered him.
Winters were all about skiing and Ski Club and racing. He packed up his kids as well as the neighbour’s kids and headed to the ski hill. He drove young racers to out of town races and helped out wherever and whenever he could.

Club and to the airport were well appreciated and still remembered by some of the locals.
Thanks for taking us up there dad we will never forget!
Upon retirement Dad moved to Kamloops and married Jean Foote. They enjoyed flying to visit friends and family. Jean and Dad shared a love of nature, they camped, hiked, Dad fished and got proficient at tying his own special flies. Their backyard was full of bird feeders and they loved to have family and friends over for a visit. Dad always had a way with babies and that was never more apparent than with his own grand- and great-grandbabies. We all miss you Papa. You will always be in our hearts.

There will be no service as per Ron’s wishes, but a family gathering will be held later in the spring.
