1942 – 2017

Doug Hamilton died peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Mount Cartier Court Extended Care, Revelstoke, BC, at the age of 74 years.

Doug was born July 7, 1942, to James and Beatrice Hamilton and spent his early years living at Stave Hydro Camp in Stave Falls, BC. Later the family moved to Ruskin, BC, and then they eventually moved to Mission, BC. Doug moved to Golden, BC, to work at Overwaitea and then moved to Trail, BC, before settling in Revelstoke where he purchased the local Texaco gas station and repair shop. He then sold the service station and started working for Canadian Pacific Railway where he worked until his retirement. Doug was very active in the community of Revelstoke. He was a School Trustee for the Revelstoke School Board from 1993 until 2011. Doug was instrumental in the Revelstoke Cancer Support Group for many years and he was always willing to help out with other volunteer organizations.

Doug was predeceased by his father James in 1974, his mother Beatrice in 2000, brother-in-law Doug Fairbank in 2000 and brother-in-law Richard Lamoureux in 2010. Doug is lovingly remembered by his sisters Carol Fairbank of Melville, Saskatchewan, Louise Lamoureux of Pigeon Lake, Alberta, Jim and Anita Fairbank and family of Melville, Saskatchewan, Bob and Barb Fairbank and family of South Surrey, BC, Gary and Nadine Lamoureux and family of Calahoo, Alberta, and Carolyn and Mike Barabash and family of Westlock, Alberta, and numerous life-long friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Revelstoke on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 1:30 pm at the Revelstoke Community Center, 600 Campbell Ave, Revelstoke.

His ashes will be spread by his family at Hayward Lake, Stave Falls, BC.
