A fantastic event will be happening on February 11 and 12 at the base of Mount Macpherson. Over 250 cross-country skiers will be competing in two Okanagan Cup cross-country ski races. Skiers will compete in a classic time trial and a free (skate technique) mass-start event.

Racing at home is a rare opportunity each season, but it comes with both pros and cons for local athletes.

Local competitor Ruby Serrouya shared some of her thoughts about the upcoming race: “I love racing at home because I get to cheer on the little kids in our club who don’t usually come to the out of town races. I am most so looking forward to seeing all of my Revelstoke teammates compete. And well, actually the cookies we sell are delicious, I am excited for those, too!”

Regular Macpherson users need to be aware that the club is offering a free shuttle to alleviate parking issues. The parking lot will be full so a 35-passenger bus has been arranged for backcountry skiers, Nordic racers, families, and the general public to use. These free shuttles will depart from the Big Eddy Fuel depot, at Highway 23S near the Trans-Canada Highway (on the half hour from 7 am to 10:30 am and from 12 noon until the race ends.
