The Visual Arts Centre’s first exciting exhibition of the season, Anything Goes, will be held on Friday, February 3.
The annual Anything Goes show is one of The Centre’s major fundraisers. This year’s show will feature original works by 30 talented local artists. As the title suggests, anything literally goes as far as subject matter is concerned. These works are all unsigned so guests at the show can have fun in the highly competitive Whose Work is Whose guessing game.
Aside from that game, wine and food, there will also be raffle for two baskets of art supplies.
“We are hoping to put together two raffle baskets for our annual fundraiser, Anything Goe,” Centre Director Victoria Strange said in an e-mail. “We are looking for donations of any new art supplies for both children and adults.
“Perhaps you received oil paints for a gift but only work in watercolour? Or have some extra drawing pencils which you could part with? Pads of paper, an extra canvas, brushes… anything really!”
She said raffle tickets will be sold for $2 each or 3 for $5, giving everyone a chance to win one of two amazing baskets. Donations of art supplies can be dropped off at RVAC, located at 320 Wilson Street, on Wednesday or Friday afternoons, 12 – 4 pm.
Tickets to Anything Goes are $15! Click here to view the poster.
The first show of the regular art-exhibition season will be the Members’ Show entitled Inspired By…, which is being held April 7 – 28.
“What are you inspired by?” Strange asked in an e-mail to Visual Arts Society members. “Is it another artist or a particular artwork? Is it a poem, or lyrics from a song? Create a work based on your inspiration!”
Take-in for this exhibition is Wednesday, March 29 and Friday, March 31.
