John R Desimone (Jack) passed away in Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, B.C. on December 5. Jack was born in Revelstoke, on July 9, 1931, to Reno and Elisabeth (Betty) Desimone. He grew up in Revelstoke and began his career with the CPR at an early age. In 1952 Jack married Anne Cook and they had 2 children, Valerie and Robert.
Jack spent all but the last 3 years of his life in Revelstoke, a place he loved. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping with his friends and family. In addition to his outdoor pursuits Jack took up golf in his mid years and retirement in 1986 allowed him to pursue it with a passion. He could also be seen cruising around on his bike on the flats or along the greenbelt.
So they could be near their family, Jack and Anne move to Richmond, BC, in 2013 where Anne passed away.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, wife Anne and son Robert. He is survived by daughter Valerie (Michael) Schmidt of Richmond, his sister Doreen Hewko, 3 grandchildren; Austin (Jalissa Rodriguez) Schmidt, Linda (Bruce) Hincks, and Crystal (Jaycee) Benson; 5 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Joshua, Nicholas, Jack and Emily.
He will also be missed by his many cousins, friends, and neighbours.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke, on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 am, followed by a reception at the Revelstoke Senior Citizen’s Centre.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
