Meet Brian Sumner — Citiizen of the Year for 2017

The Revelstoke Rotary Club has selected Brian Sumner, chairman of the BC Interior Forestry Museum & Discovery Centre, as Citizen of the Year for 2017. Brian has worked tirelessly since his retirement from the Ministry of Children and Family Development to raise the profile of this small museum located next to the Revelstoke Dam. That work has often included swinging an axe to cut firewood to sell to support the museum. Brian is also a mainstay of the Forest Workers’ Society, which runs stages the annual Timber Days festival of logger sports and culture. Brian is shown here with Roma Threatful, the 2016 Citizen of the Year, and Rotary Club President Terry Crane at last Thursday’s lunch-hour club meeting at the Regent.
