Here’s a weekend treat from the Revelstoke Jazz Club — a Sunday, November 27, performance at the Regent’s Selkirk Room by the Michael Occhipinti Sicilian Jazz Project.
Using music sung by Sicilian fishermen, sulphur miners, and folk musicians as a starting point, the music is like a trip on the Mediterranean that somehow manages to detour to Mali, Jamaica, and Toronto. Guest vocalist Pilar, an astonishing vocalist from Rome, pours her soul into everything she sings, and joins the group for both its tour of Canada in 2016 and appears on the new album MUORICA.
The touring quartet is completed by bassist Scott Kemp and drummer Tony Ferraro.
Admission is by donation and the doors open at 7 pm. Don’t miss this show!
