A shortage of affordable housing is one of the most pressing challenges facing the community today.

The Revelstoke Community Housing Society, a non-profit organization, was set up by the City of Revelstoke several years ago to assist the City with the development of housing in the community. The Society has constructed and operates 12 townhouse units on Oscar Street, which opened earlier this year, and built a duplex in the same location which it has operated for the past 4 years. These units are rented at affordable rates. The Society has also acted as a sounding board for the community on housing matters and provided suggestions and ideas to the City to try and assist with the development of housing units in Revelstoke.

The Society is looking for new members to help meet its objective of providing safe, adequate, suitable and affordable housing that meets the needs of Revelstoke residents. If you are interested in providing ideas, advice or suggestions in how best to develop housing units in Revelstoke, please submit a letter stating your interest and experience to the Revelstoke Community Housing Society, Box 2398, Revelstoke, V0E 2S0 by October 31, 2016. Letters can also be e-mailed to communityhousing@revelstokecf.com.
