1949-2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvette Florence Mitchell (Gadbois) at Queen Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, August 9th, after a courageous, hard fought battle with cancer, with her family by her side.  There will be no formal service by Yvette’s own request.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Yvette.

Yvette was born June 14, 1949, in Revelstoke and was a lifelong resident.  Upon completing high school she continued her education in Kelowna which landed her a job with CP Rail.  After a few years passed and she started her own family, her love of children grew so she pursued her Early Childhood Education.  She worked for over 20 years as a play school teacher and loved all of her “kids.”  After retirement the mama role continued and blossomed and included those well experienced.  She was a terrific cook – the more the merrier!  She loved gardening, swimming, sewing, biking, walks, hikes and RV-ing.  She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her friends.  Yvette also loved to travel and Newfoundland was her favorite.  Family was very important to Yvette.  She loved all of her adventures with family or friends.  She was unique and took pride that instead of buying toys as gifts she would give experiences she could enjoy with her grandchildren.

Yvette was predeceased by her parents and in-laws. She is survived by her loving  and devoted husband Roy;  two daughters Corrie (Chris) of Kamloops, Barbara of Revelstoke; her two step-sons James (Kristi) of Brooks and Chad of Vancouver; her loving beautiful granddaughters Shealynn, Leah  and Rachel; five brothers, one sister, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of good friends.

At this time the family would like to thank all those in the medical profession that helped along the way from Revelstoke, to Vernon, to Vancouver.  We would also like to thank all our wonderful friends and family for their continuous support.

Cremation arrangements are in care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
