Fund-raising was an eye opener

Amanda Rota, Jamie Hobgood, Erin Russell and Emily Horkley pose with some 9f the backpacks that were purchased by RCU staff for distribution by the Community Connections' Food Bank last Friday. Every year the Credit Union staff generously donate backpacks and school supplies to children whose families attend programming with Community Connections. Since 2002 they have helped 625 children in need and they fundraise as a group to ensure each child has a backpack that is age appropriate and it is filled with the necessary school supplies. “I always jump at the chance to volunteer and appreciate the eye-opening experience it is for others who haven't been in to the food bank previously. You and your team provide such a valuable service to the community of Revelstoke and I know that we at RCU are happy to contribute however we can. I look forward to seeing you at the Emergency Services Food Drive and I've begun soliciting volunteers at RCU and RCUI for September. Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke Community Connections Food Bank
