Local news briefs

The Visual Arts Society is looking for artists who would like to participate in this year’s Garden and Art Tour on Saturday, July 23.

The tour is a happy collaboration between local gardeners — of both flowers and vegetables — and the visual artists who enjoy displaying their paintings, drawings, ceramics and sculptures in local gardens.

Hundreds of people take the tour, which is being between 1 pm and 5:30 pm on July 23.

If you are an artist and would like to participate in this delightful show please send an e-mail to Jackie Pendergast, the society’s executive director, at info@revelstokeartgallery.ca or give her a shout at 250-814-0261 between noon and 4 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

There will be limited access from Mackenzie Avenue onto Sixth Street West on Monday, July 11, as work crews begin upgrading the neighbourhood’s storm system.

A statement from the City said the pedestrian path will also be closed during construction. Residents are asked to please use the alley during this construction period.

“There may be the possibility of water outages, so please fill a container with water daily,” the e-mail statement said. “The City is making every effort to keep the impact on residents to a minimum.”

If you have any questions or concerns please call Public Works at 250-837-2001.
