In Pictures: The 2016 Honour House Tour

By David F. Rooney

Local RMP officers, fire fighters and paramedics turned out to greet the Honour House Tour of Honour when it arrived in town late Thursday afternoon. They met official Tour RV by the Columbia River Bridge and escorted it into town and through the downtown core, attracting a lot of attention along the way.

The tour, which ends June 28, is intended to raise public awareness of Honour House (www.honourhouse.ca). The New Westminster-based charity is a much-needed “home-away-from-home for first responders and military” (serving and retired) and their families when they are ill or injured and need a place to stay during treatment and recovery.

Honour House also maintains Honour Ranch, which is nestled on the Thompson River 10 minutes outside of Kamloops.  Honour Ranch will be focusing on assisting all emergency responders with mental health injuries and PTSD in a serene and welcoming environment. This in also intended as a respite place for early intervention for mental health injuries and recovery.  Please click here to watch a short YouTube video that tells you how Honour House helps those who need it.

After their impromptu parade, local first responders held a BBQ at the fire hall that was well attended by first responders and their families. Here are some photos from the event:
