From the beauty of the natural world to haunting photography of abandoned places, spirited horses and the light-hearted work of local children, there are a lot of things to see at the Visual Arts Centre this month.
The June exhibition, which opened on Friday, June 3, features four shows: The Wildlife by painter Valerie Rogers, Horsing Around by Sue Davies, Abandoned by Jason Keerak, and Art Starts in Schools’ project called The World of Bees.
Painter Valerie Rogers (center) talks about her work with local art lovers. David F. Rooney photoPhotographer Jason Keerak poses with his children Ava and Ivo at the opening of his show, Abandoned. This is an excellent and intriguing selection of images taken of abandoned houses in Saskatchewan. While most of the photos are his, Ava and Ivo have their own entries which just goes to show that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. David F.
