Don Clark/Doug Sonju Quintet plays the Jazz Club on Friday

The next Revelstoke Jazz Club on Friday, June 24, will feature the Don Clark/Doug Sonju Quintet from 7:30 until 9:30 pm in the Selkirk Room at the Regent Inn. As always, the doors open at 7 pm and admission is by donation. The Don Clark/Doug Sonju Quintet consists of Don Clark on trumpet/flugelhorn, Doug Sonju on saxophone, Bill Lockie on bass, Gareth Seys on drums and Jordan Dick on guitar. Don Clark has enjoyed a long career as one of Canada′s leading trumpet and flugelhorn players. As a player, arranger, and composer on the West Coast since the early 1960s, he has been leader of the Donnie Clark Quartet and Quintet and the Don Clark Ragtime Band as well as a member of leading Jazz ensembles such as the Bobby Hales Orchestra, the West Coast Jazz Orchestra, and a regular on CBC radio and television. He was a founding member of the legendary Vancouver all-star Jazz sextet Pacific Salt, touring throughout North America and Europe in the 1970s. Doug Sonju is one of the Okanagan’s finest woodwind players, equally at home playing jazz and classical music. Doug is a member of the Salmon Armenians, with whom he plays saxophone and he recently retired from the Okanagan Symphony, where he served for many years as principal clarinetist. Doug also regularly plays with a variety of other small jazz groups throughout the interior. Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke Jazz Club
