BVE students broke some records at the District Track Meet

After our wonderful BVE track meet in May, many athletes from Grades 4 to 7 qualified for this year’s District Track, which was held last week at the Centennial Track.

Everyone did their best and had fun.  We wanted to thank our teacher sponsors, give a special recognition to Ms. Sarah Newton and a thank you to parents for cheering on all he students — not just their own kids.

We had a rare event as a number of records were broken at District Track by our BVE runners:

  • Kaity Herle a Grade 7 student, broke the 400-meter record from 1990 by 1/10th of a second;
  • Amy Harder a Grade 6 student, broke the 100-meter that was set in 2004 and beat it by 1/3 of a second; and
  • Fia Cameron a Grade 5 student, broke the 800-meter set in 1982 by 1 second.

BVE runners showed that they have great teamwork too: Grade 4 boys, Grade 5 girls, Grade 5 girls, Grade 6 girls and Grade 7 boys won the 4 x 100 metre relay for BVE this year at District Track.

Here are some photos from the event that we hope you’ll enjoy:
