Revy celebrates history — Thursday

The BC Historical Federation’s three-day conference got underway on Thursday, May 26, with a reception at the Revelstoke Museum & Archives and a special presentation at the Railway Museum by author Ralph Beaumont about his latest book, Heckman’s Canadian Pacific: A Photographical Journey. The conference continues on Friday and Saturday.

There’s a lot going on and many of the events are open to interested members of the public. Please refer to the schedule below the following photos if you’d like to know what’s happening.

Ralph Beaumont, author of several books on railroads including his latest, Heckman's Canadian Pacific: A Photographic Journey, gestures during a special presentation at the Railway Museum on Thursday, May 26. About 55 people attended the presentation. Beaumont's beautiful book chronicles the photographic career of Joseph Heckman who was tapped b the CPR to photograph everyone of its bridges, stations and snowshed on the main line. Here's an interesting factoid: To do this Heckman travelled 7,000 miles in a hand cart between 1898 and 1915. This high-quality tome is 328 pages in length and is fascinating to look. It's worth every penny of its $63 price and is available at the Railway Museum's gift shop. David F. Rooney photo
