It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Beau Daniel Powers on March 11, 2016, in Surrey, BC, at the age of 35 years. Beau was born in Revelstoke, BC, on July 9, 1980. On his maternal side Beau was born the first boy out of eight girls, with the namesake of his Grandfather Boris (Bo) Chorney. On his paternal side Beau was the tenth grandchild to arrive into our large, loving family.
Beau was passionate about connecting and spending quality time with his six-year-old daughter Emmerson. He loved music and shared his talent for playing guitar with all who knew him. Beau loved his cat Venger, literature and exploring all that nature provides. He was an avid hiker, loved fishing, hunting, kayaking and outdoor survival. He enjoyed camping as well, regardless of the season he could be found camping on a beach or in a snow shelter. Beau had an incredibly welcoming and magnetic personality, and inspired joy in all that knew him. His amazing sense of humour put others at ease in his presence, and he relished spending time with the young and elders in his life. He built and appreciated lasting friendships with many people that loved being around him, laughing at his jokes and enjoying his guitar playing.
Beau was proud of his work and talent in concrete. He did beautiful work in Kelowna for Silver Springs Concrete, and in Vancouver for Lafarge. He enjoyed the hard labour nature of the job, and once he moved into the office for a position change, he enjoyed immensely interacting with all of the different clients but did miss doing the physical work.
Beau was predeceased by his grandparents Boris and Fay Chorney, and Hazen (Lefty) and Barbra Powers. Beau is survived by his parents Corrina Chorney of Kelowna, Russell and Kathy Powers of Seymour Arm; his daughter Emmerson Powers of Vancouver; his siblings: Lana (Dennis) of Salmon Arm, Keeley (Ian) of Vancouver, Kristy (Nick) of Vancouver, Ryan (Sammi) of Vancouver; his nephews Hazen, Hunter, Hudson, Harrison and Atticus and niece Poppi. Beau was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, the Adam family and friends across the provinces.
Memorial will be held April 9, 2016, at 1 pm at the Kelowna Salvation Army Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated in trust for Emmerson. Details will be at the Memorial.
